Engagement photos in Mexico – New trendy ideas
The very definition of “Trash The Dress” implies the use of a wedding dress which is supposedly damaged or even destroyed in a sort of “irrational” post-wedding ritual.
Although this happens in specific circumstances when some brides enjoy rolling around in the mud or having paints sprayed on it, during our underwater sessions in a cenote, the dress does not get damaged at all. Water is fresh and chlorine-free. So it gets only washed, and at the end of the photoshoot, it is probably cleaner than it was at the end of a “sandy” wedding day.
But that’s not what we want to talk about.
We want to emphasize instead that the term “(Underwater) Trash The Dress” seems to be exclusively connected to something wedding-related.
That’s wrong! Because our underwater sessions are also available for many other types of events and celebrations. Both for couples and singles. E.g. Underwater modeling – Anniversary – Honeymoon – Maternity and so on.
For example, the images we included in this post refer to an engagement photoshoot.

Kiersten and Grant came to the Riviera Maya to celebrate their love. They had just got engaged and it was probably their first vacation together. In advance of their wedding, which they would celebrate many months later in Texas, they decided to commemorate this engagement holiday with a photo shooting. Their original intention was probably to organize a shooting on the beach. But Google’s algorithm showed them our underwater sessions in a cenote instead.
A few minutes later, they sent us an email asking for information, admitting that they had never seen anything like this before. Without too much thinking, the next day, they booked a package that included images both on land and underwater.
With the help of our usual props (fabrics, starfishes, shells, umbrellas), these are the photos that we have created for them. In the end, we included our thank-you signs, which are so useful for the thank-you cards.

Without wanting to diminish the beauty of traditional photo sessions on the beach, we believe that an underwater photoshoot in a cenote represents something much more exciting and innovative.
After all, the world is full of beaches where you can take pictures, but these huge natural aquariums called cenotes are instead something much more uncommon and, therefore, more precious.
Not to mention the beauty of the experience itself.
Often, when we receive feedback from our models or brides, they confess that they consider the underwater session as one of the best moments of their entire vacation in Mexico.
Upon receiving the photos, Kiersten dropped this lovely review on WeddingWire.
Best experience and most unique photos!
My fiancé and I absolutely loved our experience and our engagement photoshoot with Sebi Messina Photography and would recommend them to everyone !! We were traveling to Mexico from the US and Sebi was the ONLY photographer I reached out to that responded right away! They were so accommodating and even picked us up from our resort so that we didn’t have to mess with a taxi! The turn around time for our edited photos was quick and their attention to detail in all the edited photos we received was astounding! HIGHLY RECOMMEND them if you want the most unique pictures and best experience!
