Cenote Proposal / Engagement

Cenote Proposal & Underwater Engagement Photoshoot (Riviera Maya, Mexico)

Riviera Maya cenotes in Mexico—between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, also easy from Cancun.

A proposal is one of those rare rituals that changes the meaning of everything that comes after.

If you’re going to ask the question, why do it in the usual way, crowds, noise, and the same background everyone else has?

A cenote proposal + underwater engagement session is different. It’s intimate, cinematic, and wildly original: the surprise happens on land at the cenote’s edge, and the celebration continues where few couples ever go, in crystal-clear freshwater, suspended in silence, turning emotion into art.

  • Discreet proposal planning (timing + simple signals, so the surprise stays real)
  • Beginner-friendly coaching (breath + posing, step-by-step, calm guidance)
  • Editorial-quality retouching (natural skin, clean color)

This Is Not the Usual Engagement Photoshoot

A Riviera Maya cenote proposal (between Playa del Carmen and Tulum) is powerful because it has contrast:

  • the raw emotion of the surprise on land
  • the surreal calm of underwater celebration
  • the feeling that your engagement didn’t happen in a “place”… but inside a story

You don’t leave with a few pretty images. You leave with a narrative.

How It Works (Simple, Secret, Smooth)

1) You tell us your idea
Surprise proposal + a complete cenote engagement session, on-land portraits first, then underwater.

2) We choose the right cenote area
Typically between Playa del Carmen and Tulum (Riviera Maya, Mexico).

3) We plan the proposal moment privately
Where you’ll stand, where you’ll kneel, what the “go” signal is, and how to keep it natural.

4) The proposal happens on land first
This protects the ring, keeps the moment clear, and captures real expressions perfectly.

5) Then the underwater engagement session begins
Editorial-style underwater portraits with calm guidance, breathing rhythm, and simple posing.

6) Optional: a “fun ring” underwater
If you want the iconic underwater ring images, we use a safe, visible ring substitute underwater, while the real ring stays protected.
