Maybe we have already talked about it somewhere, but repeating does good, or “Repetita juvant“, as they used to say in ancient Rome.
We always advise against organizing an underwater photography session the day after the wedding. And it is also easy to understand why.
The Wedding Day is a concentration of months of efforts, plans and preparations, during which nothing can go wrong. Yet it is far from unlikely that any of the dozens of details that make up a wedding could go differently from what was planned.
Some random examples:
- a make-up artist who unintentionally finishes later than expected, producing a chain of other delays.
- wedding rings get lost (it happened!). Panic!
- that beautiful wedding dress that suddenly seems to have shrunk
- the rain instead of the sun, which forces to reorganize everything in an indoor backup location quickly.
And while everything goes smoothly most of the time, a subtle concern is quite common during the early part of the wedding day.
It is like a crescendo that culminates a few moments before the ceremony. Then, once you reach the gazebo, and the wedding officiant starts talking, the tension suddenly drops, to make room for a subtle sense of pleasure. You’re getting married. And it is truly one of the best days of your life.
From that moment on, you begin to enjoy everything: the ceremony, the photos, the cocktail, the reception, the party.
And that pinch of inevitable tension at the beginning of the afternoon, before the ceremony, is at most a vague memory.
However, it is clear that a good rest is eventually needed. And it will take the whole next day to get back in shape.

That’s why it is always better to take a day off between the wedding and Trash The Dress. By doing so, everything is much more pleasant.
Furthermore, unlike on the wedding day, Trash The Dress photos are taken without the strict time constraints dictated by the ceremony and all the events connected to it.
Therefore, everything takes place with a sense of relaxation, simply unthinkable two days before.
We always start with some on-land shots (the vegetation around the cenotes is magnificent). Then, after a short briefing, we dive into the water and – taking all the necessary time – we carry out the underwater photo shoot.
It’s not unusual that, before saying goodbye, brides tell us that they had a lot more fun than during the wedding.
Of course, Underwater Trash The Dress is not more important than the wedding, but the photo shoot takes place in a much more relaxed mood.

My wife and I had a truly unforgettable experience with Sebi & even better photos. We both have never done something like this before and didn’t really know what to expect. Once we arrived at the Cenote & saw what some of the other photographers were doing we KNEW we got super lucky. Sebi his Wife & his team were very professional, organized, all in all amazing. We will definitely shoot with Sebi again when we are in that region he is not only a photographer but an ARTIST in my opinion!!!
We still have to convince some of our friends that the photos are REAL. That we actually spend 3 hours diving underwater!
Thank you so much for an unbelievable experience, we really loved working with you!
